Citizens Advice Exeter
Citizens Advice Exeter, a voluntary sector charity, had never openly asked the public for donations, but had a substantial database of contacts that it had collected over many years.
Unsure what would be the best method to use in asking for donations, we developed a three-way channel test (telephone vs. direct mail vs. email) with a multiple ask value strategy incorporated (£5 vs. £10 vs. £15). The test not only revealed which channel worked best in terms of the volume of response, but also revealed which channel was most valuable and yielded the highest average gift too.
